Neillsville City Council Approves Several More COVID-19 Business Grants

Friday, July 31st, 2020 -- 12:08 PM

-The Neillsville City Council approved several more COVID-19 Small Business Grants at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council approved grants, for $1,000 each, to Home Grown Goods Company, LLC, Foster Primary Eye Care LTD, Schmitty’s on Main, Fringe Benefits Complete Salon, Drippy Creek Saloon II, plus a City of Neillsville COVID-19 Small Business Grant of $812.60 to the Vac Shop. The council also approved a resolution extending a public health leave to city employees. The City of Neillsville grants its employees a bank of additional days of paid leave to be used if directly impacted by COVID-19. This leave will be considered Public Health Leave and is limited to use only during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The resolution will be in effect until January of 2021 unless terminated sooner by the mayor and council.

The council also approved a resolution extending a raise to poll workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Neillsville shall pay its poll workers an additional $2.00 per hour above their regular poll worker rate during any elections which occur after the passing of this resolution, as a form of hazard pay in that they are required to be in close proximity with numerous members of the public on election days during the COVID-19 public health crisis, causing imminent risk to their health and safety.
