MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS, INJURIES, ONE FATALITY ON '29'

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005 -- 2:22 PM

It was a chaotic morning on Highway 29 in Clark County. A 42-year-old Osseo man is dead after a two vehicle crash on STH 29 and CTH "P".

The accident happened between Owen and Curtis shortly after 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. A westbound car, driven by 25-year-old Jennifer Risch of Osseo, was struck by a southbound vehicle, which was entering STH 29 from CTH "P". Risch was transported with injuries. Her passenger, 42-year-old Robert Townshend of Osseo, was pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County Coroner Richard Schleifer.

Risch is listed in "fair" condition. The two occupants of the other vehicle were also transported, but their identities or conditions aren't known.

This is the fifth traffic fatality in Clark County this year.

During the investigation into that crash, a westbound semi tractor-trailer unit crashed into vehicles that were backed up due to the first crash.

The semi struck a camper/trailer being towed by a truck. Upon impact, this truck struck another vehicle that was also towing a trailer that was stopped in front of it.

Two persons were injured and transported by ambulance from this incident. Due to debris being scattered over the highway, STH 29 was detoured for approximately 5 ? hours. This occurred just west of CTH E on STH 29. An investigation continues.
