Several Marshfield Residents Promote Absentee Voting

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 -- 8:02 AM

(WDLB) -Several Marshfield people are promoting absentee voting in the upcoming primary election August 11th.

To request an absentee ballot, Kathleen Rulka says you need to be registered to vote, and must have a valid I-D. She also notes you must have a witness sign your envelope before you mail it in. Ben Dorshorst is promoting absentee voting. He likes the convenience of it, noting it's sometimes difficult to get to the polls because of busy schedules. Dorshorst also says you only need to request absentee ballots once a year, and ballots show up in the mail prior to each election. Rulka also reminds voters primaries are partisan in Wisconsin, and so you can only vote for one party, which must be indicated on your ballot.

She says bringit.wi.gov will show you the various I-D's that can be used to request an absentee ballot. Ballots must be requested by 5 p.m. on August 6th. You can do so at myvote.wi.gov or at your local clerk's office, through the mail or by e-mail. You cannot request one over the telephone. You can also vote absentee in person, sometimes called early voting, Tuesday, July 28th through Friday, August 7th. If you have questions, you can send an email to [email protected].
