Neillsville City Council Hears From Representative of Neillsville Mobile Home Court After Issues Discussed at Last Meeting

Friday, June 26th, 2020 -- 8:55 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard from a representative of the Neillsville Mobile Home Court after the council had a discussion on issues at the court at their meeting last month.

The representative stated she arrived Monday and is trying to pull things together, working with residents so they understand what their responsibilities are as a lot of the residents do take care of the property. The Mayor asked if someone will be supervising the trailer park and it was stated that the representative has become more involved after the city’s attorney’s letter. It was stated that two trailers are vacant and they will be rehabilitating one and they are still looking at the other as to whether it can be redone or removed. One alderman asked if most tenants own their own trailer? The representative replied most do and the accumulation of junk items occurred over the years and two more roll off dumpsters have come in to address the issue. Another alderman asked if the points in the city attorney’s letter have been addressed? The Director of Public Works stated they are doing a great job. The council saw some pictures of what was done. An alderman questioned if they had plans to keep the place cleaned up and the representative replied yes. They had struggled with getting local contractors, until they got local help with contacts.

Individuals will be doing regular drive throughs of the mobile home court to make sure upkeep continues. They are working up a set of trailer park rules and regulations for the tenants to sign. An alderman asked about the delinquent mobile home parking fees for 2020? The representative stated that Lots 4 and 5 have moved out and she would be submitting payments for them and she is working to resolve matters with Lots 1, 3 and 9. The Neillsville Chief of Police stated that he would like to see the “code of conduct.” He said communication is needed on a regular basis, it was the representative’s decision to buy the trailer park and there have been issues with tenants harboring known drug dealers. The representative stated she would meet with the Chief of Police. The city attorney reviewed the list of issues in the letter sent to the Neillsville Mobile Home Court owner.
