Neillsville City Council Approves Retirement of Public Works Director

-The Neillsville City Council accepted the resignation of the Director of Public Works at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council approved the recommendation to accept David Flynn’s Letter of Resignation for Retirement effective August 31st and thanked him for his 23 years and 3 months of service, from 1997-2020, as Director of Public Works. The council then approved the recommendation to advertise the Director of Public Works position. The remainder of the city council meeting was reports and appearances. The city attorney reported that Lloyd Meyer has signed off on the city’s paid off land contract with him. The lawsuit has been dismissed, documents recorded and Xcel Energy was notified. The council heard the Personnel Committee report from June 11th. This was the meeting that approved Dave Flynn’s resignation and to run an ad for the position. The council also heard the Historic Preservation Commission report from June 17th. They had a discussion on funding, had a discussion on and proceeding to draft an “Action Plan” for 2020 and the future, had a discussion on reducing the inventory of fundraising items for sale, had a discussion on updating the historic property listing, had a discussion on reporting requirements and had a discussion on historic properties.

The council heard the Community Fire Hall Board meeting from June 18th. They approved the payment of bills and discussed current activities including the service entry door has been replaced and painted and a meeting with Badger Basement is set for July 15th to look at the building heaving which is causing a wall crack. Finally, they had a discussion on insurance renewal and declining the terrorism coverage amendment. Finally, they heard a report from the Beautification Committee from June 22nd. They had a discussion on the weeding schedule and a discussion on Prock Park developments including sign placement, flag pole, etc.
