Thorp Man Sentenced for Possession of Methamphetamine

Saturday, June 20th, 2020 -- 8:18 AM

(Marshfield News Herald) -A Clark County man was sentenced to six years in federal prison on Thursday for trying to sell more than 100 grams of methamphetamine.

Keith Strong, 50, of Thorp pleaded guilty to one count of possessing meth with intent to distribute in February, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Scott Blader. In June 2019, the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a suspicious person who spent the night outside of a storage facility in Wheaton. When deputies arrived, they found Strong standing next to a car parked near an open storage unit, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. At first, Strong gave a fake name to the deputies, but later gave them his real name and admitted he had a warrant out for his arrest.

Deputies found 102 grams of meth in the trunk of Strong's car, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Investigators also found texts on his phone talking about selling drugs. The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office and United States Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation.
