Two More Clark County Residents Die Due to the Coronavirus

Thursday, June 18th, 2020 -- 10:56 AM

-The Clark County Health Department (CCHD) is confirming two additional Clark County residents have died due to complications surrounding the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The individuals were both over the age of 65 and had underlying health conditions. The CCHD is not releasing any further information out of respect for the deceased and their loved ones. “Our hearts go out to the grieving families and community members affected by these two deaths,” stated Brittany Mews, Clark County Health Officer. “We would like to extend our deepest condolences to everyone impacted by COVID-19, past and present,” Mews added.

To date, 56 people in Clark County have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Clark County currently has 15 active COVID-19 cases and one individual whom remains hospitalized. Clark County has the highest incidence rate (number of positive cases per 100,000 people) and highest case fatality percentage as defined by the WI Department of Health Services, reported among all surrounding counties.

The CCHD encourages everyone to continue frequently and thoroughly washing their hands with soap and water, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding touching their face, staying home when sick, practicing social distancing, avoiding large gatherings and crowds, and wearing a face covering/mask. “In doing so, you’re not only helping to protect yourself, but also your family, friends, and community members,” Mews said.

If you have questions or concerns regarding COVID-19, please call the CCHD at 715-743-5105 and press 9 for the COVID-19 line. Daily updates are available on the CCHD Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/clarkcohealthdept/ and on the Clark County website: https://www.clarkcountywi.com/covid-19.
