Marshfield Area Pet Shelter Raises $1,000 From Virtual Paws for Brittany Event

Thursday, June 18th, 2020 -- 8:45 AM

-The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter was able to raise some funds from their Annual Paws for Brittany Event virtually, even though it was cancelled in person.

On Mother’s Day Weekend, MAPS usually holds the Paws for Brittany event in honor of Brittany Zimmerman, a Marshfield native who was killed in her downtown Madison apartment in 2008. The coronavirus forced them to cancel this year’s event, but MAPS created t-shirts that were sold online to raise funds for the shelter and honor Brittany. MAPS was able to raise over $1,000 from the online shirt sales.

Even though the in-person event usually brings in over $10,000, MAPS is still happy with what they raised and every dollar will go towards the animals. Brittany’s case was investigated ever since 2008 and, after 12 years of investigating, David Kahl was arrested for the crime and is being charged with homicide.
