Neillsville City Council Approves COVID-19 Small Business Grant Program

-The Neillsville City Council approved business grants due to the coronavirus pandemic at their meeting on Tuesday.

The item was first discussed and approved at an Economic Development Commission meeting. At their Tuesday meeting, the council accepted the recommendation to set $25,000 as the maximum program total for the City of Neillsville COVID-19 Small Business Grant program, with the maximum grant of $1,000 per applicant and the applicant submission date of June 15th through July 15th. The council also approved the recommendation to offer Bruce Rakestraw, BMAA Enterprises, LLC, a $20,000 economic development loan at $2.58% for five years, with no pre-payment penalties for rooftop heating and cooling units. The council was then presented the Associated Appraisal Consultants, Inc., contract for Full Revaluation Assessment Services for assessment year 2021 at a cost of $74,050 plus postage.

The Board of Review, at its annual meeting on May 18th, had recommended the City proceed with a full revaluation in 2021. The council approved the Board of Review recommendation to proceed with a full revaluation in 2021 and authorize the Mayor to sign the Associated Appraisal Consultants, Inc., contract for Full Revaluation Assessment Services for assessment year 2021 at a cost of $74,050 plus postage. The council was also presented with the 2020 Recycling Grant Funds received from the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $9,942.70 and they approved accepting the grant.
