Greenwood School Board Approves Application to Start Next School Year on August 17th

Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 -- 8:59 AM

-The Greenwood School Board held a public hearing on Monday to discuss starting the next school year early.

During the hearing, one parent expressed her interest in starting school on August 17th to allow students to get back into a school routine and possibly provide additional time for learning. Another community member asked about the process to apply for the waiver. Later, the board then approved a resolution to submit an application for a waiver to start the 2020-2021 school year on August 17th. However, that date needs approval from the DPI, so it isn't set in stone yet. The board also approved a couple donations. The FFA received a $500 Rally to Fight Hunger Grant and they received a $250 donation from Forward Bank. They also approved the employment of the 2020-21 Coaches and Advisors and accepted the resignation of Lori Cooper as the Middle School Volleyball coach.

The board also heard a presentation from Mr. Green and Mrs. Haase. They gave a report on the extended food service program. Mrs. Haase was also recognized for her extra efforts during this time. Finally, during the communications from the public portion of the meeting, a community member asked if the TRG is going to be at graduation to publish pictures in the TRG.
