Clark County Community Foundation Announces 2020 Scholarship Recipients

-The Clark County Community Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the 25 winners of its 2020 Scholarship Program.

Twelve Clark County students have each been awarded a $300 Clark County Community Foundation Scholarship to be used for tuition or other post-secondary educational expenses this fall. Now in its sixth year, the Community Scholarship Program was created to provide additional financial resources to eligible students living in Clark County who were pursuing an education beyond high school. The Foundation also manages three Endowed Scholarships. The Eric Pentz Memorial Scholarship ($400) is awarded to a Greenwood High School student in memory of Eric Pentz, a 1994 graduate of GHS. The Harry and Esther King Memorial Scholarship ($250) is awarded to Neillsville HS students in memory of Harry and Esther King, long-time area residents and strong advocates of agriculture and education. And, the Teresa Johnson Memorial Scholarship ($300) is awarded to a student from Clark County who exhibits strong leadership qualities and community service efforts. The Foundation also facilitated two additional scholarship opportunities this year. The Melvin and Thelma Kunick Scholarships ($500 awards) were awarded by their children, in memory of their parents. This year two deserving Colby High School received these scholarships. Additionally, Kourtland House LLC in Greenwood awarded a total of $3,500 in scholarships to six area High School graduates. Owner Terrie Opelt and Kourtland House continue their tradition of helping area graduates with their future educational expenses.

The recipients, and their high schools, of the various scholarships include Jayden Falteisek of Abbotsford, Dalton Higley of Colby, Jack Krause of Colby, Wyatt Artac or Greenwood, Amanda Bogdonovich of Greenwood, Dakota Gorton of Greenwood, Laikyn Johnson of Greenwood, Alexis Oestreich of Greenwood, Madelin Raese of Greenwood, Treyton Thomas of Greenwood, Olivia Horn of Loyal, Cole Hanson of Marshfield, Allison King of Neillsville, Nicholas King of Neillsville, Lane Kranz of Neillsville, Teeghan Mahoney of Neillsville, Kayla Oldham of Neillsville, Rio Rasmussen of Neillsville, Josephine Voight of Neillsville, Benjamin Jacque of Thorp, Danielle Stroinski of Thorp and Aimee Windl of Thorp. According to the CCCF Scholarship Selection Committees, “The achievements and character of all of the 2020 scholarship applicants are a credit, not only to themselves, but to their families, schools and communities.”
