COVID-19 Update
June 1st, Afternoon

We have a COVID-19 update for you this afternoon.

Taking a look at the updated state numbers, the state has 253,595 negative tests, 18,543 positive cases (an increase of 140 over yesterday) and 595 deaths, an increase of 3 over yesterday. Of the positive cases, 2,603, or 14%, have been hospitalized. Clark County has 33 positive cases and 971 negative. For our neighboring counties, Chippewa has 56 positive and 2,793 negative, Eau Claire has 113 positive and 4,778 negative, Jackson has 17 positive and 1,156 negative, Wood has 10 positive and 1,904 negative, Marathon has 50 positive and 3,018 negative and Taylor has 2 positive cases and 419 negative. Clark County has had 4 people die from the coronavirus. Marathon, Jackson and Wood Counties have had one person die due to the coronavirus.

Even with everything going on, the State Department of Health and Human Services wants to remind you that the coronavirus is still here and still highly contagious. No matter what you’re doing, they ask you to wear a mask, wash/sanitize your hands and try to keep six feet between you and others.
