OSHA, Wisconsin Agri-Business Association Working With On-Site Consultation Program to Address Safety and Health Hazards in Grai

Thursday, May 28th, 2020 -- 8:57 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Wisconsin Agri-Business Association are working together with the Wisconsin On-Site Consultation Program to address safety and health hazards employees face at Wisconsin grain-handling sites.

As part of a two year effort, the groups will focus on reducing and preventing exposure to engulfment, falls, auger entanglement, struck-by and combustible dust hazards and electrocutions. Spokesperson Scott Allen says alliance members will share information on OSHA's grain handling standards and how to recognize common grain-handling hazards.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA's role is to help ensure these conditions for American working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education and assistance.
