Neillsville Residents Appear Before School Board to Discuss Graduation

Thursday, May 21st, 2020 -- 11:14 AM

-The Neillsville School Board discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday.

The board approved the resignation of Scott Bryant from the head football coaching position. The board then approved the hiring of Reed Lehman for the head football coaching position. The board then approved paying the spring extra-curricular staff at compensation levels as presented and they approved the administrative contract for District Administrator John Gaier as presented. At the beginning of the meeting, there were a few people present to speak about graduation. They were asking the board if they could just pick a date for some type of graduation. They stated that many parents and students feel they can’t plan anything for the summer because they don’t know when a graduation will be held. They stated they would prefer an in person graduation, but would be willing to a virtual, drive up or some combination of that for the graduation.

Finally, the board heard the Administrators’ Report. District Administrator John Gaier reported on the CESA 10 annual convention, the CESA 10 video retention protocol, a survey of Wisconsin parents on education and COVID-19, a sponsorship page, a report from Badger Institute, a legislative update regarding a potential freeze in state spending for schools and a legal update on the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court decision.
