Granton Village Board Discusses Engineer Proposal

Tuesday, May 19th, 2020 -- 12:12 PM

-The Granton Village Board approved the engineers proposal at their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the engineers sent a proposal to begin researching their Phosphorus Compliance options for a cost of $6000. The board also heard an update on the truck. The plant was shut down due to the coronavirus, so the truck is started but there’s no end date at this time. The board also reviewed some financial information. More specifically, two questions were addressed. One was the report of the library expenses. The expenses reported include all expenses paid by the library, even though it is it’s own entity. Also, questioned was how the dump truck was reported. 57% was applied to general/roads and 21.5% was reported to water and 21.5% reported to sewer. The board also heard the President’s Report. The United Communities Meeting was held Monday May 18th at 6:30pm at the Community Center. Clark County Economic Development paid the rent of $75 and Emergency Management Director John Ross and CCEDC Executive Director Sheila Nyberg lead the meeting. The President also brought up the Fall Fest donation. The board will postpone this discussion until the committee decides if the Festival will be held.

Finally, the President also noted that there are several communities who have paid hazard pay to their clerks for working the elections. The clerk thanked the board for the consideration and thoughtfulness of this gesture. If the village qualifies for any Hazard grant money this subject will be reopened. The board also discussed the sidewalk restoration grant The board reviewed two grant submissions. The Hitch n Rail submitted a grant application for $4200. The board reviewed the grant and approved $1000 be awarded to the Hitch n Rail upon completion of the project and the submission of receipt of payment. 111 S Main Street submitted a grant request for $2500. They requested the village remove the driveway approach and the residents will do all labor. They reviewed the grant and agreed to pay to repair their curb and gutter and awarded a $350 grant upon completion of the project and submission of receipt of payment.
