Marshfield Changing Street Near Library and Community Center Becoming One Way Street Again

(WDLB) -A portion of East Second near Marshfield's downtown will once again become a one-way street.Public-Works Director Dan Knoeck told the city's Board of Public Works last night that crews are getting ready to switch East Second between Maple-and-Cedar back to a one-way street, after the Common Council voted back in December to make a one-way experiment permanent once the weather allowed this spring. The city's Common Council voted in favor of permanently turning the 200 block of East Second into a one-way street to the east with angled parking on the north side, responding to concerns raised primarily by older citizens who frequent the nearby Senior and 2nd Street Community Centers.
The argument made at the time was that most seniors have trouble with parallel parking, so an option with angled parking would make the most sense for the vast majority of those using that portion of Second Street. On a trial basis last Fall, Second became a one-way street from mid-September to Nov. 1, but it was switched back again.
