Statement from Wisconsin Restaurant Association Regarding Supreme Court's Ruling on Safer at Home

Friday, May 15th, 2020 -- 11:05 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Now that the Wisconsin Supreme Court has ruled on Governor Evers' Safer at Home order, many are wondering how the news will affect the food service industry.

Kristine Hillmer of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association says the situation is still very fluid and things can change very quickly. She noted that local health departments can legally issue their own emergency order to continue Safer at Home provisions within their area. As a result, restaurants need to keep an eye on what's happening in their own county. On the flip side, customers need to make decisions on what they think is best for them depending upon their area of the state and personal situation, she noted.

As part of a promise to the public, the WRA says its members' staff will pass a health check or complete a health survey prior to each shift, will make hand sanitizer or hand washing stations available upon entry and exit, and will clean and sanitize common areas regularly. The Wisconsin Restaurant Association is one of the largest trade associations in the state with over 7,000 member locations.
