(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -In less than a month's time, the newly created Wisconsin Dairy Recovery Program has already distributed over 19,600 gallons of fresh Wisconsin milk and 65 pallets of cheese to nearly 60 local emergency food sites to help feed hungry families. The initiative was launched in April after the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and Hunger Task Force collectively gave $1 million to help purchase dairy products in an effort to help struggling dairy producers during the governor's Safer at Home order. During the first three weeks of the program, the milk and cheese products will reach 45 counties and tribal nations throughout the Badger State.
To support the ongoing recovery of Wisconsin's dairy industry, Hunger Task Force encourages people to make an online donation at www.HungerTaskForce.org/dairy
