Greenwood School Board Approves Application Asking DPI to Waive Instructional Hours for this School Year Due to the Coronavirus

-The Greenwood School Board heard some financial updates at their meeting on Monday.

The board received an update on the 2020-21 budget and reviewed an alternate plan design for the Health Insurance renewal. This district would see a 1.99% decrease in premium cost for 2020-21. The board also approved the LED lighting project from NCLED and an adjusted transportation contract for 2019-2020. The board also heard an update from administration on instruction during the closure. Instruction for the seniors will end on May 21st and instruction for all other students will end May 29th. The board then opened up discussion to the public regarding an application to the Wisconsin DPI for a waiver of the Hours of Instruction requirement for the 2019-20 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the long-term school closure and they then approved the application.

The board also approved grading the 2nd semester of 2019-2020 as pass/fail. Finally, the board approved Policy 0167.1 after the second reading and they reviewed a preliminary list of possible summer maintenance projects. Finally, the board approved paying spring sports coaches for 2019-20 and approved a 1.91% total salary increase in 2020-2021 for teachers and 2.0% increase in hourly wages for support staff.
