Wisconsin Egg Production Up 11 Percent

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin egg production during March was 188 million eggs, up 11 percent from both last year and the previous month.According to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs report, the average number of all layers on hand was 7.42 million, up two percent from 2019 and four percent more than February 2020. Eggs per 100 layers for March was also higher at 2,532.
Nationally, egg production totaled 9.53 billion in March. That was down slightly from last year. The average number of layers in the U.S. totaled 395 million, down three percent from 2019.
