Clark County School Districts Continue to Work Around Early Closure Due to Pandemic

Tuesday, April 21st, 2020 -- 10:51 AM

-Our Clark County School Districts continue to work through how to handle the remainder of the current school year canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Many of the districts will continue with the measures they have already implemented regarding meals and at home learning. But many districts have stated that there are lots of questions and options to consider. For instance, Greenwood has posted on their website that they will begin to consider how to address the many end of the year activities, events, ceremonies, summer school, etc., and they will continue to share information with our students and families as information develops. Owen-Withee posted on their Facebook page that students will continue with at home learning, they’ve selected new dates for things like prom and graduation and other items as well. The Abbotsford School District reminds parents that this does not mean that learning will stop.

They stated teachers and support staff will continue to meet the learning needs of their students. They are asking parents that they continue to help their children in their learning, whether virtual or through learning packets. Colby will be following similar measures with the usual spring activities cancelled or postponed and they encourage students to continue with at home learning. And we'll be speaking with Neillsville Administrator John Gaier this afternoon to hear more on what the Neillsville District will be doing due to the closure for the remainder of the year. We'll have that interview for you tomorrow. And we’ll keep you updated on what other districts are doing as the weeks move forward.

Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
