Neillsville City Council Hears Committee Reports and Communications

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Committee Reports and communications at their meeting last week.

The council heard the Heritage Days Committee Report from their meeting on March 29th. They approved to scale back the Heritage Days event to three days and discussed the scheduling of events. They also heard the Personnel Committee Report from their meeting on April 6th. This was the meeting that approved the hazard pay for the clerk-treasurer personnel at city hall and poll workers. A resident in attendance thanked Council Member Quicker and Mayor Glassbrenner for their service to the City and stated that Officer Hintze will be missed, but she also questioned why the city is constantly having officers leave the department. Finally, she thanked the City Clerks’ office personnel and poll workers for their work on the April 7th election. The City Clerk reported that the annual Common Council Reorganizational meeting will be Tuesday April 21st at 4:00 P.M., the Open Book will be Monday, April 27th from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and the Board of Review will be Monday, May 18th from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.

Mayor Glassbrenner presented Jerry Quicker with a plaque for dedicated service to the City of Neillsville as Third Ward Council Member for 10 years (2010 - 2020) and as President of the Council for 1 year 8 months (August, 2018 - April, 2020). The President of the Council, Jerry Quicker presented Charles W. Glassbrenner with a plaque for dedicated service to the City of Neillsville for 17 years (2003 - 2020), First Ward Council Member for 15 years 4 months (April, 2003 - August, 2018), President of the Council for 6 years 4 months (April, 2012 - August, 2018) and Mayor for 1 year 8 months (August, 2018 - April, 2020). Finally, Mayor Glassbrenner stated he has appreciated his time on the Council and thanked everyone he dealt with over the years as Council Member, President and Mayor. The Mayor is the guide, the Council Members are the boss, you keep the City running, you vote on the issues. Glassbrenner thanked the various department heads and their staff.
