Look for the Helpers: Marshfield Dental Crafters

Monday, March 30th, 2020 -- 8:41 AM

-“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

Those are the inspiring words to Mr. Rogers from his mother, so we’re going to try and find the helpers. Today, we look at Marshfield Dental Crafters. (Thank you to WDLB for sending me this information.) They have reallocated resources and workers to assist in supplying protective gear to help local providers in a time of shortage. The dental laboratory has developed prototypes to manufacture 3-D printed protective face shields, to assist the Marshfield Clinic Health Systems and local emergency workers, according to co-owner Robert Slominski. Slominski says his facilities are now in full production of the masks.

The shields keep any type of fluids from coming at your face. It also covers up the N95 masks, and so it helps preserve those valuable supplies. The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department has gotten some of the masks as well. Most of them are going to the Marshfield Clinic and Medical Center. Dental Crafters is getting help from All Metal Stamping of Abbotsford. The custom fabrication shop is developing a plastic injection mold, and will be able to mass produce the masks a lot faster than 3-D printers can. That production line should be up-and-running within a week or so.

This may be a stressful situation for everyone, but we will get through this. Let's all work together and help each other along as we take the current situation day-by-day. And, if possible, make sure you continue to support our local businesses. They’re going to need our support now more than ever. If you know of someone who’s going above and beyond to help the community during this difficult time and would like them to be acknowledged for their work, please send me an email with details to news@cwb.radio.
