Neillsville Common Council Approves Resolution Declaring State of Emergency in the City

-The Neillsville City Council approved a resolution declaring a State of Emergency in the city at their meeting on Tuesday.The resolution is more about being prepared and being able to get assistance. The resolution states that due to orders by federal and state leaders in the ever evolving situation, it is necessary and expedient for the health, safety and welfare and good order of the City of Neillsville to proclaim that emergency conditions exist which has or is imminently likely to cause the City of Neillsville to extend, commit and exhaust its available resources. With this declaration, the city may request state and federal assistance and advise the State of Wisconsin of its emergency conditions. The resolution states, that a public health state of emergency exists in the City of Neillsville; that the City of Neillsville authorizes the emergency purchase of goods, materials and services; and that the City of Neillsville authorizes the closure or other appropriate restrictive limitations related to access by the public in and to all municipal buildings as determined by the Mayor of the City of Neillsville.
It also states that the Neillsville Police Department shall have all necessary authority and power to enforce any emergency rules and restrictions declared by the Governor of the State of Wisconsin, the Clark County Board of Supervisors and/or the Neillsville Common Council or its Mayor; that the City of Neillsville authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to assist and take all appropriate measures related to municipal employees in addressing and responding to this state of emergency; and that this declaration shall be implemented consistent with applicable laws and subject to the availability of existing monies for such purposes. The resolution takes effect immediately and can only be lifted by another resolution declaring so.
