Neillsville School Board Approves Audit Bid

Thursday, March 26th, 2020 -- 8:34 AM

-The Neillsville School Board approved the audit bid at their meeting on Monday.

The district sent out bids to five companies and two responded. The first was from Johnson Bloc and they offered a bid of $14,700 for 2020, $15,000 for 2021 and $15,300 for 2022. The next bid was from Bauman and Associates and they offered a bid of $12,000 for 2020, $12,250 for 2021 and $12,500 for 2022. The board approved the lower bid from Bauman and they were told that the company does have experience doing audits for school districts. The board also approved the Transportation Contract with Granton for the next school year. Finally, the board didn’t have any donations, but District Administrator John Gaier did state that if the hospitals start facing a serious shortage of PPE items, the district will be donating what they have available. Finally, Mr. Gaier did have some items to report on. One item he wanted to stress is that no student needs to worry about graduation for this year. He said that with the number of credits the district requires for graduation, all students have met those requirements and are on track to graduate. He also stated that even if they can’t hold their usual graduation ceremony in May like they normally do, they will have a graduation ceremony and some point down the road.

He also reported on a thank you card, an update from the Clark County Health Department regarding COVID-19, an emergency order from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services, an email regarding a Department of Public Instruction order, an email about the 2020 Engineering Machine Design Championship, an article on the district providing free meals for kids during school closure, an email from Carolyn Orlowski with the numbers of meals being picked up and delivered, an email from Gary Veltus regarding FSET and W2 flyers, Title 1 targeting numbers for public and private schools, high school and middle school staff hours, an email from Julia Backaus regarding ACP exploration and planning and an article regarding a coronavirus stimulus for education. The Neillsville School Board will be meeting again on April 6th as they continue to address the ever evolving situation regarding the coronavirus. The meeting is at 6pm, but they are only allowing the board to attend due to the social distancing restrictions. But residents can see the meeting on the Neillsville Cable Channel as well as streaming from the district’s website.
