Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin Not Sending Out National Dairy Month Kits Due to Uncertainty of Coronavirus

Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 -- 8:42 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -With uncertainty over when statewide bans on social gathering will be lifted, the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin has decided not to send out National Dairy Month kits and event support materials that many local dairy breakfast hosts use at their events.

In an email last week by Beth Schaefer, regional program manager for the Wisconsin Dairy Council, the check-off program stressed that the health and safety of local communities is a top priority. But she added that National Dairy Month 2020 is still an opportunity to celebrate Wisconsin dairy farmers and encourage consumers to buy local. The DFW also encourages local dairy promotion groups to bring positive information about the dairy industry to other existing events later in the year or by doing creative social distancing promotions like hosting a drive-thru dairy breakfast similar to how restaurants are currently operating with their takeout options.

The state dairy checkoff will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and plans to work with local groups in their efforts.
