Wisconsin 4-H and FFA Clubs Being Asked to Postpone or Cancel Spring Livestock Weigh-Ins

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin 4-H and FFA clubs in every county are being asked to postpone or cancel livestock weigh-ins days this spring in an effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.University of Wisconsin-Extension Livestock Specialist Bernie O'Rourke says any counties with beef weigh-ins on the schedule should halt those plans immediately. Lamb weigh-ins are farther out on the calendar and swine weigh-ins have already been discontinued because of the introduction of the swine health rule. In a statewide memo last week, the Division of Extension noted that counties needing to get tags to exhibitors should do so with minimal to no human-to-human interaction.
The Extension is also calling on in-person YQCA instructor-led meetings to be postponed and calling on students to utilize the online modules. As of now, no county fairs have been officially canceled because of COVID-19.
