REMINDER: Clark County School District's Providing Meals During Closure Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Monday, March 23rd, 2020 -- 10:15 AM

-Following the Governor’s declaration that all K-12 public and private schools be closed to fight the spread of the coronavirus, Clark County schools have closed.

The Neillsville School District will be providing Breakfast and Lunch FREE of charge to ALL children within our school district between the ages of 0-18. They are providing free breakfast and lunch Monday thru Friday at a drive thru set-up in front of the high school. Drive-up, do not leave the vehicle. Someone will come out to find out how many meals you need and then deliver them to your vehicle. They will deliver the meals to your home. To get on the list you can call 715-743-8740 and leave a message with your name, address and the number of meals you will need delivered or email [email protected] with the same information. Once you call in with the info they will deliver the meals through out the school's shut down. If you call after 8:00 in the morning to get on the list, they will need to wait until the following day to start delivery to your home. You will still be able to come up to the school to get meals for the day. Deliveries leave the school at 8:00 AM and should be at your home between 8 and 10. You should put a cooler outside your door for the delivery people to put the meals in so they are not unnecessarily exposed to anything. The Granton School District is providing meals. Granton parents should contact the district about the meals.

The Loyal School District will be providing free bag breakfasts and lunches each weekday for any individual under the age of 18. You can pick up a bag breakfast and lunch at the Town of Loyal Township Hall from 9am-9:45am, the Town of Sherman Township Hall from 10am-10:45am, the Town of Beaver Township Hall from 11:15am to Noon, the Trailer Court from 11:15am to Noon and the Loyal Elementary School from 12:15pm-1pm. When you get to your pick up location, a driver will hand you your bag filled with both breakfast and lunch. Please understand you will not be able to eat at the site or go into the building. Greenwood is also providing breakfast and lunch at the elementary and Willard Community Center. The meals can be picked up from 7am-noon at the elementary and from 7am-10am at Willard Center. Again, the meals cannot be consumed on site. Owen-Withee will also provide breakfast and lunch free of charge to any student 18 and younger throughout the closure period. Drive up/pick up of meals will be done at the gym lobby entrance. No meals will be eaten on site.

Breakfast can be picked up from 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM. Lunch may be picked up from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Both meals can be picked up at the same time if requested. If you ABSOLUTELY cannot pick up meals, or have someone pick them up for you, delivery will be available. The district CANNOT deliver 750 meals a day, so pick up is preferred. The Thorp School District is providing meals and children are eligible if they are age 18 or under, and live within the School District of Thorp boundaries. They do not need to be enrolled in the public school. They do not need to receive free or reduced price meals during regular school days. Each day, every child will receive a bagged breakfast and lunch. Each meal will meet federal nutritional guidelines. Each meal will include milk. They are unable to allow menu selections, choices of milk, or notification of what will be served on any given day. Some meals will require you to reheat the food. They assume that you will decide what and how to reheat. They encourage you to refrigerate meals that are not eaten right away. They will continue to harvest fresh greens in the greenhouse and will be sending fresh fruit and vegetables. They will be baking fresh bread and rolls regularly and they hope you’ll enjoy and appreciate what we offer.

We will be distributing food at five locations and offering limited delivery service. The locations include the Thorp High School between 11AM - 1 PM, the Town of Reseburg Hall between 11:30am-Noon, the Thorp Catholic School between 10:30am-11 AM, the Town of Withee Hall between 11:30am-Noon and St. Bernard Catholic Church between 10:30am-11AM. They have limited availability to provide home delivery. Please make every effort to get to one of their pickup locations. If that is not possible, please be sure to provide them the information about your situation. When getting the food, please follow these procedures to protect their staff from unnecessary contact. Stay in your car. Hold up your fingers to show how many meals you need.
Open the trunk or a window away from occupants of the vehicle. They will put the meals into the vehicle. Please do not attempt to come into school or onto the bus. If you or your children walk to school for meals, ring the doorbell and stand at least 6 feet away from the door. There will be a cart outside where the meals will be set out for you. Meals will not be handed directly to you.

The Abbotsford School District is providing a sack breakfast and lunch as well. You can pick those up from 8am-8:30am and 11:30 a.m. to Noon in front of the Elementary School and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss. Finally, the Colby School District will be offering free lunch and breakfast to all students 18 years and younger. The distribution will be from 11-11:30 AM Monday through Friday at three locations including the Colby High School Door #2, the Dorchester Village Hall and Unity Village Hall. It will include a sack lunch along with a breakfast for the following day.
