Even With COVID-19 Pandemic, It Was Business As Usual for Neillsville School Board

Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 -- 10:12 AM

-Even with the schools closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was business as usual for the Neillsville School Board at their Monday meeting.

The board approved the bid of $61,610.77 from American Time for a new clock and alert system in the school district. The board heard a presentation about the system at their previous meeting. The district will now be using screens with a clock display and the system can also send out messages and alerts throughout the district. The clock will be WiFi connected, the district will install, but the company will program the alerts, be on-hand during installation and provide training once the installation is complete. The district expects the installation done by July 1st. The board also approved an application for early graduation. A female student will meet her graduation requirements by the end of the first semester in the next school year.

They also approved the applications for the ECCP and Start College Now programs. It was stated that 59% of Neillsville’s seniors have taken some college courses and 50% of their juniors have taken some college courses. The board also approved, with one member voting no, a field trip for the STEM group to Minnesota. The trip is scheduled in May and with the coronavirus outbreak, they aren’t sure if the trip will still happen, but the board approved it regardless in case the trip does still occur.
