Wisconsin Agencies Working Together to Combat COVID-19

Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 -- 11:46 AM

(WRN) -All of Wisconsin's state agencies are coming together to combat the spread of COVID-19.

State officials are working hand in hand to combat the growing threat of COVID-19. Wisconsin emergency management has fully opened its Emergency Operations Center, which is now staffed with members from most state agencies. Spokesman Andrew Beckett says this means information that usually needed an email or phone call to retrieve can be handled immediately.

"They can work directly with someone with the agency they need the information from in order to make sure that request is being taken care of as quickly as possible."

Beckett says the state's Emergency Operations Center is fully opened and staffed to help the Governor and the Department of Health Services do their jobs.

"This collaboration allows people to be in the same location so they can quickly get the answers they require from other state agencies."

Beckett says the move opens up the sorts of communications options usually needed for disaster recovery efforts in order to handle the outbreak.

"We're here in a support role in order to make sure they have what they need to effectively carry out that response."

Staff from other state agencies like the State Patrol, Emergency Management, Department of Transportation and National Guard are all on hand to assist the Governor in controlling the spread of coronavirus.
