Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 -- 10:12 AM

-A Virginia man facing charges in Clark County after DNA matched him to an incident back in March of 2018 was sentenced in Clark County Court on Monday.

According to court records, law enforcement responded to an incident at the Wildcat Mound on March 30th of 2018. They received reports of a guy who had chased two girls and punched them. Evidence found at the scene was sent to a DNA crime lab’s testing site back in June of 2018 and evidence came back in February of 2019 matching Shane Hoiland of Pennington Gap, Virginia. An arrest warrant was issued for Hoiland in November of 2019.

Hoiland’s attorney and prosecutors were able to reach a deal and his charges were changed to misdemeanors. Hoiland was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, two counts of battery, two counts of disorderly conduct and intimidating a victim/dissuading reporting. He was sentenced to probation.
