Marshfield Mayor Discuss Coronavirus Readiness

(WDLB) -The city of Marshfield is ready in case of a coronavirus outbreak. That's what Mayor Bob McManus told the Marshfield Common Council last night."I know our school district is very well-prepared for this. I've talked with our Police Chief Rick Gramza and Fire Chief Scott Owen. I'm very confident in their preparation and readiness that they have regarding this issue. I'm very hopeful that this virus does not visit us here in Marshfield. In the unlikely event that it does, I believe we are well prepared."
The Mayor noted the readiness efforts of the Wood and Marathon County Health Departments, and Marshfield Clinic.
"They have created a task force there, and they're currently running practice drills through their system. You can also go to marshfieldclinic.org, and they've got a webpage specifically for this. As of this time and date, they've not had a patient under investigation test positive for this virus."
The Mayor also echoed the warnings from other government officials, in terms of keeping you, your family and others around you safe and healthy.
"The best thing we can do to be preventative here is if you sneeze or cough, cover your mouth and nose. Wash your hands a lot. Those disinfectant gels do great. Avoid contact with people who are sick. If you are sick stay home. And if your kids are sick, keep them home. That's hard for working families, but the best thing we can do is if we're sick, stay home."
The state on Tuesday confirmed a third positive COVID-19 test in Wisconsin--a person exposed to the virus while traveling in the United States. That individual is currently isolated at home in Dane County. On Monday, health officials confirmed the state's second novel coronavirus case in Pierce County.
