Monday, March 9th, 2020 -- 11:37 AM
-Smiling for Samuel, a local non-profit organization that helps support families who suffer infant loss and also parents going through the journey of Trisomy 18, is holding a fundraiser this Saturday, March 14th.I spoke with Sierra Strangfeld and she explained the Cut-a-Thon happening on Saturday.
“The Cut-a-Thon, we cut hair to raise money. So, essentially they’re discounted haircuts and all the funds for the kids and adults haircuts will go to people going through Trisomy 18 journey or infant loss. Right now, we’re specifically focusing on infant loss and helping with the burdens that come with that such as paying for a funeral, but also memory boxes and books and stuff for the parents.”
She also said there are many other activities happening on that day as well.
“We start at 9am and go until 2pm, but, of course, we can go later if need be. We are taking appointments, but people can walk in also. There’s more than just haircuts, so we hope everyone comes out for other things too. We’ll be doing a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle and we have plenty of fun raffle baskets.”
If you’re interested in donating a bake sale item or basket, you can do that through this Friday.
“Baskets and bake sale items, if anyone wanted to donate, can be dropped off through next Friday [the 13th] at the salon.”
Again, the Smiling for Samuel Cut-a-Thon is happening this Saturday, March 14th from 9am-2pm at the Neillsville High School. They are taking appointments, but walk-ins are welcome.
