Clark County Cheese Makers Do Well at World Championship Cheese Contest

-Clark County, and neighboring, cheese makers made the county proud at the World Championship Cheese Contest.

Hollands Family Cheese had one of their delicious cheeses in the Top 20 of the World Championship Cheese Contest. All though they didn’t receive the top prize, they had several cheeses that did well in the various categories. In the Flavored Gouda category, Hollands received Best in Class with a score of 99.55 with their Marieke Gouda Caraway. They also received the Second Award in that category with a score of 99.50 with their Marieke Gouda Cumin. They also received Best of Class in the Smoked Gouda category with a score of 99.70 for their Smoked Cumin Gouda. LaGrander’s Hillside Dairy received a Second Award for their Pepper Jack Longhorn with a score of 99.65 in the Pepper Flavored Monterey Jack, Mild Heat category.

Land O Lakes in Spencer received the Third Award with a score of 97.80 for their Deli White American Cheese in the Pasteurized Process Cheeses category. Nasonville Dairy of Marshfield received the Third Award with a score 98.85 for their Cow and Goat Blended Feta in the Soft & Semi-Soft Mixed Milk Cheeses Category. It wasn’t all about cheese, though. Lynn Proteins of Granton received the Third Award with a score of 99.80 for their Whey Protein Concentrate in the Whey Protein Concentrate 34 category.
