Governor Evers Signs Package of Transportation Funding Grants

Thursday, March 5th, 2020 -- 9:27 AM

(WRN) -Governor Tony Evers was in Green Bay Wednesday, where he signed a package of transportation funding grants.

Funding from that package will be going to multiple sorts of projects, and importantly to fix a number of rural bridges.

"70 million dollars, I believe, that went out to 100 projects, many of them in rural Wisconsin. A lot of them fix bridges that are preventing people from getting their products to market in a timely fashion. So I think it's going to be good for rural Wisconsin."

Grants were also handed out for other projects like road repairs and bike and pedestrian lanes. Evers says looking ahead, he expects to push for a sustainable transportation funding source in his next budget proposal.
