Governor Evers Signs Bills Addressing Student Mental Health

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020 -- 7:28 AM

(WRN) -Governor Tony Evers has signed bills addressing student mental health in Wisconsin.

Evers was in Ashland Monday, where he signed three bills into law. One requires student ID cards issued by K-12 schools, colleges and universities include information about suicide prevention hotlines, but does not require immediate issuance of new IDs. A second bill establishes a school-based mental health consultation pilot program in Outagamie County.

The program will be operated by the Medical College of Wisconsin and could be expanded statewide. A third makes changes to the use of physical restraints and seclusion of K-12 students. Evers has now signed 118 bills in to law.
