Small Agenda at Tuesday's Neillsville City Council Meeting

Friday, February 28th, 2020 -- 2:04 PM

-The Neillsville City Council had a small agenda for their meeting on Tuesday.

There were no action items during the Public Works portion of the meeting. The council heard the Public Works report and the usual amount of work was done in the city. They also heard the Finance Committee Report from their meeting on February 25th. At that meeting, the committee, and then the council, approved the construction of a new Cemetery/Parks building, contingent upon approval by the Planning Commission, with a maximum project cost cap of $360,000 and to authorize the City Clerk to request loan proposals from local financial institutions. The council also discussed two billboard lease agreements in the city’s industrial park. Rental fees are based on size, location, electricity or not-these billboards are 12 feet by 20 feet. The renewal contracts are for five years, with an annual payment of $600 per year per billboard.

The council approved the lease agreements at a rental fee of $600 per year per sign on five-year contracts from this year to 2025. Finally, the city attorney reported on the case against Lloyd Meyer for refusing to sign off on the city’s paid off land contract with him in the industrial park. Meyer has requested and been granted a substitute judge, which reschedules the hearing to April 27th. Meyer has also filed a response with the substitution request, which appears to be a stalling tactic. The city attorney has also filed a motion for summary judgment along with a default motion.
