Wisconsin Assembly Passes Tax Cut Bill
Friday, February 21st, 2020 -- 8:43 AM
(WRN) -Wisconsin Senate Republicans went to work early Thursday morning to pass a tax cut.Democrats blocked a final vote on the plan Wednesday, but Republicans reconvened to pass the tax cut at 7:30 Thursday morning. Republicans used procedural moves to cut off debate. The bill would use 392-million dollars of the state's surplus in the next budget.
Most of that would go toward an ongoing income tax cut, while the rest of the money would offset a new personal property tax cut for factories, and a one-time payment on state debt. The bill goes to Governor Evers, who's said he'd prefer to spend the money on schools.
