Republican State Senators Block Bar Bill Amendment

(WRN) -State Senate Republicans have blocked an attempt to open up bar hours in Milwaukee for the Democratic National Convention this summer.The bill would have moved the bar close to 4 am during the duration of the Convention. Senator John Erpenbach tried to reason with the G O P on the issue.
"Whether you agree with the Democrats or not, you have thousands of Democrats coming in to the state of Wisconsin, opening up their pocketbooks."
GOP senator Dale Kooyenga seemed less than impressed that this was being attached to a bill to stimulate low income areas.
"We could change our drinking hours for four or five days for two hours! That's... that's it! That's what we can do!"
In the end the amendment fell on a party line vote.
