Election Primary Today

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020 -- 12:56 PM

-There is an election primary happening in the State of Wisconsin today.

The main election on the ballot is for State Supreme Court Justice. Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker appointed Daniel Kelly will face off against Madison Judge Jill Karofsky and law professer Ed Fallone. The top two vote getters will advance to the April 7th general election and compete for a 10-year term on the court. The race is supposed to be non-partisan, but Kelly is favored by Republicans and Conservatives while both Karofsky and Fallone are favored by Democrats and Liberals. It's important to note that with the Supreme Court race, regardless of our political offiliation, you can vote for any candidate because, again, the race is supposed to be non-partisan. Also, here in Clark County in the special election, voters will chose a candidate for the 7th Congressional District that was vacated by former Republican Congressman Sean Duffy.

Voters will choose between Democrats Tricia Zunker or Lawrence Dale and Republicans Tom Tiffany and Jason Church. The winners will face each other in the May 12th special election. It's important to note that with the special congressional election, you must declare your party beforehand and vote in that party or your ballot will be thrown out. Also, some voters in Clark County will vote for a Stanley-Boyd School Board Member. That race is between Mark Morrow, Toni Seidl and Mike Henke. Some other things to keep in mind, a photo ID is required to vote and you can register at the polls if you need to update your registration or have never voted before. Also, if you voted by absentee, your ballot must be turned in today.
