Granton School Board Hears Achievement Gap Reduction Report

-The Granton School Board heard an update on the Achievement Gap Reduction Report at their meeting last week.

Jodi Maguire and Kim Hokenson presented information on the Achievement Gap Reduction Fall Semester Report. The board also approved the Chapter 4 School Board Policies related to Fiscal Management, they approved the 2020-2021 School Calendar and they approved the shared agreement contracts with Loyal for the Library Media Director and School Psychologist for the 2020-2021 school year. The board also approved the use of School Buses for the Dairy Breakfast in June if needed for inclement weather, they approved exploring co-oping sports with Loyal, they approved the field trip for the girls’ basketball coaches taking players to the state tournament and they approved the field trip for the boys’ basketball coaches taking players to the state tournament. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Amanda Krause reported on the Staff Professional Development. She stated the staff had a great Q&A experience with the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.

The Crisis team took what they learned and set it into motion in their Crisis drill for March. They will be having an evacuation drill. Information will be sent to parents and discussed with students before they evacuate with the help of Clark County Officers and Granton Fire Department. She also stated the Valedictorian and Salutatorian have been selected in the graduating class of 2020. Alejandro Mendoza will be the Salutatorian and Kylie Ganther is the Valedictorian. Finally, she provided an update on the academic data. The Secondary has continued to make progress with regard to their Semester Academic Data. They have increased 5% from last Semester and they are meeting next week to create a plan for continued academic improvement. Finally, Superintendent Scott Woodington presented updated information on the 2020-2021 Preliminary Budget.
