Granton Village Board Discusses Dump Truck

Friday, February 14th, 2020 -- 10:37 AM

-The Granton Village Board discussed the village dump truck at their meeting on Wednesday.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board continued to discuss options for replacing the dump truck. A leasing option was reviewed. V&H and Gross Motors both submitted quotes for purchasing a new dump truck. The board did put money in the equipment reserve account as they were aware the dump truck was in need of replacing. The board decided it is best to look at purchasing new. A decision will be made at the next board meeting. The board also heard the Water Report. Chlorine and BacT samples were completed and they worked with a resident who was concerned his meter was reading incorrectly. Several tests over several months were completed and there were a couple of usage spikes but these are explained by the resident’s leaky toilet. A leaky toilet can use up to 100 gallons of water per hour. The resident’s meter was replaced in 2018. The Water Department agreed to install another new meter.

The Water Department will monitor usage in this new meter as well for comparison. They also worked on the Cross Connection report and the PSC Report. The board also heard the Sewer Report. They continue to do snow removal, they took down a tree at Margo Young’s, the quarterly lead and copper samples were completed, they worked on Jared’s truck, they met with rural water and completed an energy assessment. They should have the results in a month. A grave was dug, they changed filters in Well 5, and they worked on the dump truck. They also received their Phosphorous Compliance fines. The village will pay $4,663 to 6 different counties who will be attempting to reduce discharged Phosphorus. Finally, it was stated the broom is broken and the cost for a new part is $1,891.94. The cost to purchase a new broom is $2,700.
