Lublin Man Committed to Custody of Department of Health and Family Services for Vandalizing Neillsville Church

Thursday, February 13th, 2020 -- 1:04 PM

-A Lublin man charged for the vandalizing of a church here in the City of Neillsville appeared in Clark County Court on Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Neillsville Police Department, at the end of February of last year, officers were called to St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Black River Road due to vandalism that occurred there during the late night/early morning hours. When officers arrived, they discovered several religious statues and wall hangings that had been severely damaged throughout much of the church and worship area. No injuries were reported, but damage to church property was significant. After an investigation and a tip regarding a person of interest, Seth Meier of Lublin was arrested.

According to court records, Meier had allegedly joined a cult. Witnesses say he was also speaking in demonic voices while he was vandalizing the church. Meier was found guilty of committing a burglary, but found not guilty due to mental disease or defect. Another charge was dismissed and read in. He has been committed to the custody of the Department of Health and Family Services.
