The Neillsville City Council heard some reports and other information at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council heard the Public Works Report. The usual work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, snow and ice removal, sanding and salting, trimming and pruning trees, brush chipping, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes and hauling brush and compost. They also flooded and cleaned the ice hockey rink. The contractor informed them that they’re having issues at Well #4. Frost has broken the pipe again and they are recommending a new well be drilled within the year. The cost is $5,000. They also did some bar maintenance at the Sewer Department and they’ve been cleaning out the snow around the fire hydrants. They are also working on meter change outs and they’re starting to add radio readouts. Public Works Director Dave Flynn also mentioned that a review regarding work by the new hospital was approved and they will be looking at putting in a new water main and other work when some construction is done on Highway 10 heading east.

The council also heard the report from the Library Board meeting held on January 21st. The board met the new librarian and heard some updates from her. They also approved allowing Kathy Wagner to carry over some vacation time and they approved a committee to review job descriptions and new duties for assistants.
