Neillsville City Council Approves Official Depositories

Wednesday, January 29th, 2020 -- 9:30 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved a resolution making changes to their bank accounts and designated their depositories.

The city made the change to the bank accounts by adding Simplicity Credit Union to the list of banks they do business with. Also, they left BMO Harris Bank on their list, but, due to BMO closing on April 17th, the council will eventually remove them from the list while they transfer their accounts to a different bank. This item was first approved during the Public Works portion of the meeting and then again during the Common Council. The council also discussed an ordinance change. The ordinance makes it illegal to drive certain recreational vehicle, like mini-bikes, go-karts, etc., on state highways. However, the original ordinance included ATVs and UTVs, but, last year, the city approved allowing ATVs and UTVs to operate on Neillsville’s roads.

So, the old ordinance was changed to include an exception for those vehicles. However, the council had some questions regarding tractors, lawn mowers and golf carts. The city attorney stated they should consider an entirely different ordinance for golf carts and that tractors were already protected under state law, but did agree lawn mowers should be mention in the ordinance as many lawn care businesses will ride their mowers from place to place in the city during the summer. No action was taken on the item and changes will be made and brought back before the council.
