Neillsville School Board Discusses Employment Matters

-The Neillsville School Board discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday.

The board approved the resignation of Joy Abel from her teaching assistant position effective June 5th, Don Abel from his technology integration specialist position effective June 5th, Cheryl Craig from her teaching assistant position and Glen Klueckmann from his bus driving position. They also approved the Memorandum of Understanding for JoAnn Hauge with modifications as presented. Finally, the board heard the Administrators’ Report. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on attendance, the toy drive, sharing kindness, StarLab, field trips, mid-year testing, playground expectations and student behavior support changes. Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on attendance, end of first semester was January 23rd, staff additions, service projects, ACP night on February 3rd, middle school week and Community Olympics. High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on attendance, scheduling for 2020-2021, an update from the agriculture classroom, an update from vocal music, guidance office and ACP updates and many events going on at school.

Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on the current construction schedule and future projects list, the proposed CVTC referendum, a thank you card, September 2019 and January 2020 pupil counts, a news release on the 2021 state superintendent election, the IRS business mileage rate, an Association for Equity in Funding newsletter, an article on school property taxes, an article on the taxing impact of two school systems and an article regarding the dissolution of the Palmyra-Eagle School District. Mr. Gaier also reported on an article about the Senate energy efficiency and lead testing bills, a draft school budget transparency/uniformity bill, a draft bill expanding part time open enrollment to private school students, a draft bill allowing virtual charter school student participation in extracurriculars and a WIAA petition.
