Greenwood School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

-The Greenwood School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.Elementary Principal Joe Green provided an updated on the district and regional Spelling Bees. The elementary Literacy Night is scheduled for Thursday, February 27th from 4:00-8:00 pm. The Book Fair will open that evening. The school district and Greenwood Public Library collaborated on a grant that will bring a $7,000 STEM cart to the community. Finally, he stated teachers continue to receive training on the ARC reading program. Dean of Student/Athletic Director Jenny Mayenschein shared a review of the Winter Fun Day and Santa Project held prior to the winter break at the high school. The high school students will be attending a presentation at Loyal High School on Monday, January 27th, and the speaker will touch on topics of resilience and perseverance. The 3-Act play is scheduled for March 13th-15th.
Also, she stated a new ticket station was purchased which will be used for basketball and volleyball games, concerts and plays and this spring the softball field will have a real fence instead of the snow fence. Finally, District Administrator Todd Felhofer gave a legislative update. He stated Governor Evers has proposed legislation to combat teen vaping. He also stated that the Open Enrollment promotional sign is up at intersection of Hwys 98 and 73, the Annual Audit Report will be given at the February 10th Board Meeting and Reading Drives Achievement Procedure Compliance Self-Assessment was completed this fall and all corrections have been made. Finally, he stated a canine search of the high school was completed on January 3rd and nothing was found.
