Owen City Council Hears Audit Report

-The Owen City Council heard the Audit Report at their meeting last week.

The council approved the 2018 Audit report summary given by Joy Palmer/CPA of CliftonLarsonAllen. Auditors will return in March of 2020 for the 2019 audit field work and the city will review the report for 2021 budgetary purposes. The council also heard the Police Report. Part time Officer Jacob Haugstad was given the oath and sworn into office for the department by Mayor Milliren. The department is also meeting with the Clark County Health Dept regarding rodents in the city. Residents are asked to report any additional sightings to city hall to pinpoint any additional areas of concern. The county can help communicate a control plan if necessary. The council also heard the Public Works Report.

The department is doing an Owen-Withee Water Study, a wastewater review of Phosphorus and repairs, working on the 5th Street project and they provided the DOT project report for the County Road X Cardinal overpass. The council also approved the request by Public Works for employees to roll over their vacation time in 2019 to 2020 due to the department turnover this past year and the work loaded requested. Employees must use in a timely fashion after the snow season. Finally, the council approved a resolution authorizing the city to sign the Tornado Shelter Federal Emergency Management Grant. It was noted that no City funds are expected to be requested for the project.
