Fun Activities Happening in the Black River Falls Area

Friday, January 17th, 2020 -- 12:16 PM

-After the holidays, our local communities tend to see things slow down a little bit, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of fun things to do in the area.

And that’s especially true in the Black River Falls area. I spoke with Amanda Gunn, the Black River Falls Chamber of Commerce Director, and we discussed a few events happening this weekend.

“It’s a slightly slower time as far as events and things go, but, right now, are ATV trails are open and they have been groomed. And they have opened some of the snowmobile trails as well. The snowmobile trails on the east side of Jackson County are open along with the Jackson-Trempealeau Ridge Runner Trails and the Black River Trail Riders Club Trails. And I know a lot of people have been itching to get out on the trails, so this weekend will be good for it and more snow is coming!”

“As far as other events, this weekend there is a big Peewee Youth Hockey Tournament at the Milt Lunda Arena here in Black River Falls. And that will run Friday-Sunday. And then, also, one or our local salons, Black River Falls Studio 107, is hosting a big fundraiser called a Cut-A-Thon. And that’s Sunday the 19th from 1pm-6pm. And that is a fundraiser to help students in the Black River Falls School District that have past due lunch accounts. So, all proceeds will go towards paying the lunch debt of students who are unable to get lunches because of past due accounts. And they’ll be doing discount hair cut prices and lots of different raffles and door prizes. So, that will be a really great fundraiser here in our area.”
