Clark County Tourism Committee Discusses Many Topics at First Meeting of 2020

-The Clark County Tourism Committee held their first meeting of 2020 and discussed a wide variety of topics.

The committee discussed an assembly and senate bill that would designate Colby cheese as the state cheese and everyone present signed a letter that will be sent to Madison showing their support of the designation. They also heard from Jeff Anderson with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism on some of the state’s winter campaigns and upcoming awards that those involved with Tourism can be nominated for. They then briefly discussed a Snowshoe Run/Walk that is being held on February 8th in Owen to benefit the Clark County United Way. They committee also heard from Travis and Nicole Rogers of the Sentinel and Rural News in Owen regarding an upcoming three day Jazz Festival in August at the Munson Bridge Winery they’re organizing. The committee also discussed the annual Spring Into the Arts Studio Tour happening at the end of April and the 2020 Bloomin’ Greenhouse brochure is almost complete.

The group also heard an update on the Rails-to-Trails project, what’s happening in the Forestry and Parks Department, the Fairgrounds Revitalization Project, upcoming events and a recent meeting at the CART Center, an update on what’s happening at The Highground, a new constant contact media campaign and the group saw the new county visitor guides. They also discussed the 2020 Business-to-Business Expo/Career Fair and Annual Meeting, a Growing Your Own Business Seminar, a Meet and Greet held by the Friends of the Black River and the 2020 Census.
